2009 Crafting Plans
There were so many new projects I wanted to start in November/December but put them off until I was done with Christmas. Now that my Christmas crafting is over, I can start some of these projects that I’m so excited about.
It might be a total flop but I really want to try my hand at spinning my own yarn. I will have to buy the raw materials and find some good instructions on how to do it. It sounds like fun or at least spinners seemed to be enthusiastic about it. I would love to learn more how to do things from the ‘good ole days’ like making butter, making soap, and other stuff. It’d just be nice to know so that these crafts aren’t forgotten.
I also want to learn to knit. I had attempted knitting a few months back with very little success. I plan to try again and would love to find a beginner class. There might be a class at the local yarn shop I can attend. I really need some one-on-one to get down the basic technique.
There are a few crochet techniques I want to learn, too. I’m signed up for a class in filet crochet. Although I’m not a lacy-type of gal, I think filet crochet makes for a great heirloom gift. And apparently it’s suppose to be easy. Or at least those who know how to do it say that. Of course, if you know how to do something, then it’s easy to you. Still, I can’t wait to give this a try.
I also want to learn Tunisian crochet. There is also a class in January on this technique that is a cross between crochet and knitting. I do love the look of something knitted so I’ve been interested in learning this since I learned to crochet. I finally found an afghan crochet hook, so now I have everything I need to get started.
That should keep me busy for a while. I might add something else later in the year. So what do you have planned for 2009?

I have been spinning for a few years now. Its not extremely difficult, but it takes a little time to learn. When you have completed a knitting project its far more rewarding in the end when you have spun your own yarn too!
