Dr. Cameron Clokie is a Canadian surgeon who works in Toronto, Ontario. He is a highly skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon who performs his practice at the University of Toronto. Additionally, he teaches medical students his craft turning out a new generation of highly skilled professionals. It was in 1985 that he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery. After receiving further specialty training in his field he attended McGill University and in 1992 graduated with his Ph.D. in bone generation.
As an internationally recognized expert in his field, Dr. Cameron Clokie has been invited to lecture internationally. The topics he has covered ranger from his specialties in oral an maxillofacial surgery to dentistry in its broader form. As an expert in bone regeneration, his lectures have been proven to be very popular with students as well as other dentists who want to learn more about this groundbreaking technology.
Some of the patients that Dr. Cameron Clokie treats have lost part or all of their jaws due to a number of reasons, often due to cancer. The bone regeneration that Dr. Clokie is an expert at can help these patients lead normal lives once again. The technology he uses makes use of adult stem cells which are turned into bone tissue. This bone tissue is then used to coax the bones in the patient’s jaw growing a new complete jawbone. There are only two medical facilities using this technology presently, Dr. Clokie at Toronto General Hospital and other doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
One of Dr. Camerone Clokie’s patients was not eligible for this procedure due to her jaw also missing a joint. In her case Dr. Clokie carved out bone from her shin in order to transfer it to her jaw, rebuilding her jawbone. She says that although she couldn’t walk for two months it was a very small price to pay in order to have a normal jaw again, especially as she is an aspiring singer.
