Give A Hand - 30 Gifts in 30 Days
This is an adorable gift that I have to all the grandparents last year for Christmas. I used a sheet of typing paper, some blue finger paints, and my kids. They were both more than happy to get their hands dirty and make hand prints on several sheets of paper. In fact we turned it into a whole day of fun fingerpainting. On each of the pieces of paper I had already printed off a small poem to go with the painted handprints. Once dry I added their names and ages below their hands then each page went into a frame to be hung on the wall.
Though you don’t have to do it exactly this way. There are many ways you can give a set of little handprints as a gift. You can use fabric paint to place little handprints on a shirt, a bag, a jacket, a pillow, or anything else you can imagine. Here is a Guide to Fabric Painting Techniques that you can use to get started. I think it would be adorable to put handprints on an apron to give as a gift. Add the words “Helping Hands” and you have a cute present for someone in your family.
You can also use clay to share their little hands. Use salt dough to create large plaques that your children can leave hand impressions in. Have them press their hands into the dough evenly and firmly to create a nice impression. Then bake and paint the plaques for special gift to give. You can also use this to make ornaments to hang on your tree.
