I’m No Quilter
So I decided to take my own advice about the personalized quiltsand make one for my niece. She is an absolute girly girl in every way, completely in love with pink, and has been obsessed with soft fabrics since she was a few months old. She is also incredibly petite, so that normal sized blankets overwhelm her. I planned to put it all together and make her a quilt smaller than a normal sized one, made of the girly-est fabric I could find, and backed with an ultrasoft fleece. Everything seemed perfect as I pieced it together.
Anyone want a pink quilt, slightly small, uneven seams? I didn’t think so.
So now I must decide: accept the flaws as part of it’s charms and gift it anyway, or toss it in the donation box at the thrift shop and try again?

oh, give it to her anyway! It’s so cute. I am sure being the girly girl that she is that she will love it.

Oh no, don’t trash it! If you don’t want to give it to her keep it yourself. Hang it on your wall. A first attempt is soooooooo special. I wish I could quilt. I love them! I don’t even have a first attempt.

Ok-you can leave it as is, you could tear it out…but how about this? Take the quilt, lay it out, and, using a template approximately the size that you would want it to be, cut it out ASKEW! Imagine a rectangle cut on a diagonal-then the “off seams” won’t be nearly as noticeable, and you can finish it with binding around the edges and no one will ever know (except those of us who found out here!)!
